There Is No Such Thing As a Little Garlic

Carrollton, TX- March 19, 2011 - From the Arancini risotto ball stuffed with mozzarella, served with a sweet basil red sauce appetizer to Chef Brad Parr's melt in your mouth hickory smoked brisket braised in pomegranate and tangerine reduction, Misto Bistro is the exciting new European fusion fine dining and gathering place in Carrollton.

Misto Bistro is the culmination of a life-long dream of Executive Chef Janet Parr. "The menu at Misto Bistro is a reflection of my food journeys. Each dish tells a story and each story represents the roads that I've traveled as told from the perspective of food," Parr explains. "My husband, Brad, took all of my stories and our experiences traveling together and made my dream come true."

The unique upscale restaurant's menu is an eclectic compilation of a wide variety of cultures ranging in price from four to twenty dollars. The four dollar selection is impressive from the fried eggplant dusted with Greek kefalotyri cheese served with marina sauce to the fresh apple butter accompanying the trio of fresh artisan breads. The eight dollar selections are not only creative but are value designed and vary from a trio of Gulf Shore signature crab cakes served with spicy wasabi yuzu sauce to the Misto house smoked cheeses that Chef Brad personally prepares. The sixteen dollar menu item begins with an option of salmon served with mango avocado chutney, rice pilaf and asparagus or you can select a twenty dollar prime rib with a twice baked potato.

Janet, who along with her husband Brad also own "No Worries Catering" explains that, "Misto Bistro seems like the natural next step in our lives. My earliest childhood memories are with my family eating Memphis-style barbeque pulled pork and coleslaw or the buttery taste and sweet smell of my mom's fried apricot pies cooling by the window on a hot Arkansas summer day. I remember the first time I ate Caesar salad tableside or tasted the succulent prime rib from the Town Club." In addition to the influences from their family cookbooks, Janet and Brad have traveled throughout Europe and collected many sauces and recipes along the way.

The inside of the Bistro has a flavor of old world Europe complete with artwork from Italy and a 300 year old bible stand from Lyon, France once owned by renowned chef Paul Bocuse. Perhaps the most dramatic piece in the Bistro is the massive antique mahogany bar imported from France. Everything has been carefully selected by the Parr's to create an ambience that reflects their food journeys at the same time creating a comfortable dining space. The walls are hand painted by local artist, Renee Carmean with catchy, clever food quotes inside antique frames. The signature drinks are an inspiration created by Janet and Brad's family and friends. The Shu Shu cocktail is a Shula Lavie inspired mix of passion fruit, lime, vodka and rum. The Traditional Family drink is a time honored toast passed down through generations is recommended by the Parr's as perfect for after dinner.
